NPWA Hydrant Contest Winner Completes Painting with Cheery, Weather and Water Cycle Design
Lansdale, Pa- July 7, 2026 – On July 6, NPWA welcomed Cassidy Fedorowicz and her family to their Operations Center to paint a fire hydrant. Cassidy submitted her winning design to their hydrant design contest held in May for Drinking Water Week.
Cassidy painted a cheery and bright water cycle and weather design on her hydrant, as her parents, brother, and grandparents looked on. The hydrant will proudly be on display in front of NPWA’s Operations Center, located at 300 Forty Foot Road in Towamencin. A sign with her name will also accompany the hydrant, which will remain there until a new winner is announced during next year’s contest.

This year’s contest was held during the first full week of May in honor of National Drinking Water Week, for students in grades kindergarten through fifth to design a fire hydrant. Cassidy, a fifth-grader at Nash Elementary at the time of the contest, submitted her design which was among almost 70 entries received. A panel of judges from NPWA staff were selected to vote and deemed her the winner on Friday, May 8.
“This year’s winning hydrant represents something near and dear to our hearts: the water cycle. The sun, clouds, and rain come together to tell the story of water and the journey it takes before reaching our homes. We’re proud to showcase this artwork as a reminder of the natural process that makes clean, reliable drinking water possible,” said NPWA Executive Director, Keith Hass.
National Drinking Water Week is an initiative of the American Water Works Association, which occurs during the first full week in May each year to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives. For more information, please visit www.awwa.org.
