NPWA Statement Regarding National Cybersecurity Threats

 

Lansdale, Pa.—May 23, 2024 – The Environmental Protection Agency issued an enforcement alert on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, urging water utility systems to take immediate actions to protect the nation’s drinking water from cyberattacks. The alert was issued after several U.S. utilities were hacked.

North Penn Water Authority takes cyber security very seriously and we are taking the necessary measures to protect the safety of our water and to protect customer information. We are a Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) partner and work with the agency to ensure we are implementing the most up-to-date security measures.

Our number one priority is providing our customers with a safe, reliable and affordable supply of drinking water. We are aware that cyber security is an important part of ensuring we fulfill this mission.
